Dorel Juvenile and Cradles to Crayons Gear Up for Baby
Dorel Juvenile executives were happy to take time during the Global Summit being held in Foxboro to help make life better for local families.
Working together, they put together kits for Cradles to Crayons’ Gear up for Baby Project. Cradles to Crayons is a charity organization with a mission of providing children ages 0 to 12 some of the most important basics of life. This is a natural fit with Dorel Juvenile’s own mission to care for precious life.
Christine Lundblad, Gear Up for Baby Co-Project Manager, let us know how much they appreciate the help. “Cradles to Crayons is so grateful for our ongoing partnership with Dorel Juvenile. Over the years, Dorel Juvenile’s donations of baby gear – strollers, car seats, play yards and more – have made an enormous difference in the lives of the infants and toddlers Cradles to Crayons serves. Dorel Juvenile’s in-kind donations help us realize our vision that one day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, valued, and ready to learn.”
There were two different kits being assembled by Dorel Juvenile’s employees: one focused on child safety and one on infant health. Each kit contained several products from Dorel Juvenile’s brands. From auto sensor nightlights and medicine dispensers to the iconic Baby On Board® sign and essential home safety items; the kits are perfectly suited for the Gear Up for Baby program, with over 900 kits produced for the cause.
Lundblad explained how the kits will be used. “Cradles to Crayons’ Gear Up for Baby initiative focuses on increasing our inventory of both nursery items and baby gear. Gear Up for Baby encourages the donation of these products from both individuals and families as well as from corporate in-kind donations. Our partnership with Dorel Juvenile is key in providing baby gear items for the most vulnerable children whom Cradles to Crayons serves.”
Each employee also wrote several Well Wish Notes that will be used for a separate Cradles to Crayons project. These well wish notes go into special back-to-school backpacks that are put together each year with donated school supplies and other essentials. The goal of a Well Wish Note is to make the child feel valued and to help boost their confidence as they start of a new year of learning. A few words can go a long way and make a big difference in a child’s life.
Paul Powers, President and CEO of Dorel Juvenile U.S.A. summed it up nicely, “It’s been great to spend time with our global partners and participate in this project together. Giving back to the community by helping young families really drives home everything that Dorel Juvenile stands for. It was a great reminder for me, and I believe for everyone there, how important it is that we continue to produce and offer products that make life better for families all over the world.”
